    Question Coolants

Changing the water pump on my 1990 Classic Rangie and looking for views on what coolant to fill her up with?

In my 89 3.9 litre, have always used Nulon concentrate (green) mixed one part coolant to two parts demineralised water that you can buy in Woolies. So 33% solution which would cover all but Siberian climates. Search threads for refill procedure which is pretty critical to get all air pockets out - from memory the vehicle needs to be on a slope with nose upwards to ensure all air is expelled. The drain plugs on either side of the block can be a @#$% to remove and good idea to replace them with taps (Atlantic British I think had them). 14 litres the total fill I think so one 5 litre carton of concentrated coolant should do it.

Cummins PG Platimun. I am using it in my TD5. It is reasonably priced and is a new technology coolant.

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
