The oil. #2 was just the unlucky pot to cop it by the physical nature of the intake design..... He mentioned some very good books put out by koblesmidct (sp) that are refference material for court cases etc. Has different types of piston failures etcQuote:

Well the parts finally arrived. I ended up using M&D engineering in the UK. The supplier Santiago provided a link to never returned my emails? I also tried Holland, they were more expensive on parts alone. I tried Aus, NZ, USA but no one carries parts for the HS2.8tgv.
care to share a run down on the prices?
It is finally at the reassemble stage:
Head work: $440 - stripped, hardness, crack and leak tested. Skimmed, completely cleaned and reassembled with new valve stem seals.
Turbo: $125 - partial dismantel, check, clean and service
Injection $320 - Injection pump put through a full run simulation on a test bed, injectors checked (free)
Machine work: $600- block bored, platue honed, decked and cleaned. Conrods checked for length, straight and twist, pistons skimmed and balanced. (rods where very good for balance stock so did not need it)
So the block was bored, honed and decked. It went back to the mechanic, where he set it up with crank, rods and pistons to check deck height and each individual piston height. The pistons were then sent back to the machinest to be skimmed accordingly so they are more or less the exact same height above deck at TDC.
In picture #3 you will see that piston #2 has not been skimmed. This was the lowest and therefore the datum for the others.
