93 Disco rear fog lamp conversion

Hi there guys as I dont often use this light i was thinking it would be fairly simple to convert this light to a brake light.

    Has anyone done it ?

It looks to me as simple as soldering a jumper from the positive on the brake light to the positive on the fog lamp ....

any electrickery minded people wish to comment

I have a pic on the way of the back of the light

    Mick

    lots do it.
it is illegal to use fog lights if there is no fog around but i dont see any of the yuppie bmw drivers get hassled for it.

you will definately be noticed when you brake and it looks good seeing all the lights working at night...it doesnt look like the bulbs are blown in two of the four brake lights.

thats how it looks to those that dont know about landies....they think they are red, therefore they are brake lights. the brakes are on so the globes must be blown.

go ahead and hook them up...it looks great and shouldnt really require any mods due to the fact the wiring is capable of running trailer lights.

meaning you shouldnt be blowing any fuses or having the check bulb light come on on the dash.

    p.s.

behind the drivers side tail light is a plug probably with nothing connected to it which is where the trailer harness is meant to plug in.

you can connect them straight to that if its easier.

Hi landrovermick, I wired both of my series 1 and 2 discos up the way you want to do it but instead of just using a few jumpers to hook them together, you can connect them together using large diodes and doing it this way the fog lights will work as additional brake lights but if you do need them to be fog lights, they can be used without turn the real brake lights on.
    Cheers

Thats why the rear fog lights are good, when your BMW, Commodre Drivers are behind you, you can fog them back. I like to any way.
