HDC system fault with engine shut off
Hi there,
Second hand 05 D3 bought at 105k km at a LR dealer.
I had quite a few issues with the car but this time it's getting quite serious.
While driving at 100km/h with the family i had an HDC system fault and the car just stop. The steering wheel stop working and I struggled a bit to park on the side. We were off north Perth 2h from the city so not the best place.
What worried me is that the fault message starts with "hdc system fault", then "suspension lowered", then "park brake fault" etc.
We waited a bit and restart the engine, seemed to work but again same issues 10km further. It happens 10/15 time until we reached the destination but the week end was ruined anyway.
Needless to say this was quite dangerous.
After a couple of reads on the web I thought there is an issue with the electronic and the voltage. Basically the alternator is not providing a regular level of power so fault appears ( I am not a techie so sorry if not clear).
Morning after I restarted the car, drove back home. Car failed again but I then re-started it and was constantly accelerating. When not accelerating I was in Neutral pushing up RPM so the battery got power. It failed a couple of time when I was not accelerating enough but I figure out how to re start the car.
We managed to drive back home after 5 hours.
I just want to leave this tip here- just in case it might be of use for any of you.
This is my 4th LR - I had 1 in NSW and 2 in Europe - but I m struggling a bit with the quality of service delievered by the LR Dealer. I had a couple of issues and the guys struggled with it. Despite I am living North I'll head to Bruswood tomorrow hoping better service.
