300Tdi VNT fitted

Is this measurable? Is it a theoretical risk or "continuously variable" risk?

My rebuilt 300 with Turner performance head all new pistons, tidied up crank and cam blah blah has been running max 20psi boost for 650 hours now. Easily the best 300 I have toddled about in.
I have the aneroid set to max fuelling and as mentioned plunger at 1.60mm.

Only issue is it breathes pretty heavily (not outrageous) and despite a provent I still get oiling through the intake, turbo and IC (? high boost related). My IC seems to have a pin hole leak at the bottom core welds but Im still seeing 20psi at the manifold so not too worried.

I will be very interested to see how you tune your 300 Dougal.

Not taken the wrong way Pat, but it's still getting hot with boost and fuelling to the point before it all started. Yes I did use the power granted, but even if it is still doing it at low speeds, 80/90 kmh on the standard fuelling with low EGT there's got to be another cause.

FWIW there's not many 4wd dyno tuners in Melbourne who have any idea what they are doing.

It's very real. If the pressures get higher than your head can stand then you get either leaking head gaskets or cracked heads.

Sounds like you've got it sorted. The provents work better with the flow reversed. The factory arrangement makes oil drip past the outlet. Which results in a significant amount of oil exiting via your intake.

Don't hold your breath for my 300tdi results. I've got a lot of far more urgent projects both current and starting.

Do you know what coolant temp you were actually hitting?

IMO, EGT of 600 can give you coolant temp of 110 on factory TDI cooling system.

Good plan. I wish I had thought of that before the head cooked on mine! Everything else had been replaced.
