    Td5 Oil Pump Securing Nut

I heard that the Td5 had a BIG problem (early SII Discovery era) with the nut on the oil pump rotor working itself loose, redering the pump disabled, and probably rendering the engine stuffed.

Has there been a modification made to stop that from happening? I havn't seen what the pump looks like on a Td5, but i imagine that maybe a split pin could be put through the shaft (drill a hole through the thread) to keep the nut on...but thats just a guess.

Has anyone here heard of this problem, and the solution?

Bloody Land Rover! How do they make these stupid mistakes?

Ah! This topic has reared its ugly little head again! I thought this died a natural death.

For the record, TD5 Series II, 2001 model, 125,000Km and no dramas...
