    Brakes

    Hi all on my 98 Disco my brakes are squeeling when I am stoping

    The noise does not happen at high speed braking but only at low speeds could it be that the pads are too hard?????

    All the disc's and pads are just about perfect??


    Also where is the best place to buy extended brake lines from?

    have the pads glased, is there a rock in it??

    They might have did'nt really look at that coz they look so new but there is no rocks in there at all.

    I thought that the previous owner's had put in high temp pads and thats why they don't make noise at high speed.

    My old 93 Disco did'nt have this problem ever

    Use the anti brake squeal goo behind the pads. It can be caused by a hi pitched resonation between the disk and pad. This insulates the vibration and stops the squeal. Or get them skimmed by a mobile brake guy. I had mine done last year cost was $20 or $25 per wheel made a big difference

    Maybe, there are a few who put harder pads back to improve heavy braking. Trouble is they wear the rotors fast so I stick with softish brakes.

    The Mazda has pads that squeal but that's only when they aren't up to working temp. other than that they are fine. The hellspawn's squeal occassionally but that's dust I think from the bush roads.

    check also to make sure the anti squeal shims are in the correct way around.

    I'd definitely go with the pad goo and the anti squeal shims.

    When I did my Disco with Bendix pads, I had to prise the shims off the old pads. If someone who didn't know what they were doing, could simply have tossed them with the old pads and not used anything on the new ones!

    The shims a very thin metal that clip over the pad backs.
