DII Instrument Cluster Removal.
Quick question, Friends. I have a couple of blown lamps in my instrument cluster. RAVE tells me how to remove the cluster, can anyone tell me if the odometer data will be lost if I disconnect the instrument cluster to replace the bulbs?
Is the odometer data stored in the Engine/Vehicle Management System?
I'm sure my dealer will charge a small fortune for this little job....

You shouldn't lose the odometer, otherwise my truck would only have a few thousand k's on the clock. The odo is backed up by another computer (BCU???) and they chat. If you drive with the dash disconnected and a discrepancy develops, the odo will flash indicating tamper. If this happens I think the dealer can clear it to the one with the highest value.
Cheers

I thought as much. Thanks Slunnie. I just needed a second opinion!
Hear the one about the shiela that went to the doctor? Doctor told her she was 100Kg over weight. She said she wanted a second opinion. Doctor said, Okay, you're ugly as well!
