liquid noise from startup?

If anyone knows please tell, When i start up in the mornings
(the landrover that is) there is a distinct noise from the top of the inside of the fire wall which sounds like fuel? being pushed through the lines
but if this is correct should it do this ? Ive never had this noise on any
other 4wd. And no there is no residual smell of any kind. It sounds like a
small river flowing untill i give it a bit of a rev.( love doing that at 3am in the v8)

Hi Big Dave
Is the aircon on???? If so try it with it turned off.Could be the refrigerant moving thru the lines. They tend to get noiser when a regass is needed.

This sounds very much like the coolant level is too low. What you are hearing is water being pumped through an empty heater core.
To fill properly start the engine, turn heating on, fill the radiator, wait until the thrmostat has opened then top up radiator. Check the level in the expansion tank.
Also check for any leaks.

Regards

I had exactly the same noise in my old Classic Rangie. As british4wd said topping up the coolant fixed the problem for me.

It use to sound like a bloody torrent, if you had not been to the toilet it certainly did the trick!

my Disco used to do it, filled the coolant header tank to the top and let it work out what level it needs.

After that - no issues.
