Engine surging
Hi all, my 300tdi has developed what I can only describe as an engine surge. It only happens once the car has warmed up, and normally, but not exclusively, it happens when I accelerate after a gear change. Seems to happen in all gears except 1st. Lacks power (but doesn't lose power altogether) when this happens and I have to ease off the pedal then press down on the accelerator again.
Could this be due to a leaking fuel injection pump? Have cleaned out the sedimenter, replaced the fuel lift pump, new fuel filter and still happens.
Sorry for the vague description, hopefully someone has some suggestions to the cause.
Cheers
Brett

Had similar in a TD5 and was a sticky wastegate.

timax - didn't think of that, will try and have a look at that tonight. Haven't noticed anything unusual on the boost gauge, and the turbo is only about 18 months old, but definitely worth a gander, even if only to eliminate that being the cause.
My fuel injection pump is certainly leaking, and have a replacement sitting there waiting to go in
, just a bit unsure if my skills are up to it
A bit toey about mucking around with the injection pump, timing etc
