Weeps & Seeps

At my last service I was told my Series 2 Disco manual has a weep in the fuel pressure regulator and a seep in the front gearbox seal. I have a extended warrentyand they will cover the fuel pressure fault but are bauking on the gearbox fault.
Surley a gearbox seal must last more than 110k kms and should be covered unless this is a regular occurence?
Your thoughts ????

Imagine if they fixed yours, oh the outrage, then we will all want ours fixed too all 20 million of them around the world. Nah, they won't do it.
it part of owning a Rover. Imagine if there were no leaks, the Toyo and Nissos would have nothing to bag us about!
But yep you are right I think it should last longer than 110 kms, stand your ground and get them to do it. And be careful they don't just pressure wash it and hand it back to you. It happened to me on a head oil leak.

I think most of us would be happy with just a seep after 110000km.

I would think oil leaks as with most warranties aren't covered on the basis of "wear and tear". My cousin has a secondhand Rodeo under warranty that has had an oil leak (front crankshaft seal) from about six months after he bought it. The company won't fix it as it is written into the warranty that oil leaks are not covered.

Just regarding the annual inspection and oil leaks/seep/weep/wetpatch etc. all you need to do is find an inspector like mine, as I'm the mechanic 8), all I do is hand him the keys, he takes it for a blap 'round the block, locks the brakes up out the front then hands the keys back along with the pinkslip with a cheshire cat kinda grin. I almost know what he's been up to but it'd be only half what I do anyway. Mine's never clean when he sees it so maybe that's a chalkmark on my side to begin with. I 'create' a few defects just so the sheet looks right sign it off that day as passed safe and it's all good. He's checked under the bonnet once, just to make sure it looked like a holden engine, never asks for the engineers cert. or anything, god love him. I agree on the fuel pump though, that should be fixed under warranty. Would hate to hear you lost yours to an engine fire. 8O

Hi Foxbat
If you are starting to get a leak of your front gearbox seal and its covered by a warranty,I would be buying gearbox oil and feeding it into the leaky area so there is alot more oil there than is in reality. You may say thats dishonest, but Ive been stitched enough(TWICE) by extended warranties and would never buy one again.Play them at there own game, add a splash of oil to make it look worse,if they still refuse to do it,at least you know things arent quite as bad as they look
