First, it is definitely a 24 and not a 22 right ? 2nd, i would say thats quite normal if you are straddling the lock point it will go in out untill you pass the full lockup speed/rpm.
Hi,
I have a D1 with a ZF 4hp 24 with 50,000km on the auto box.
Something has started to happen with the TQ locking up point, its starts to flutter around 85km/h, if you keep the peddle pressed it will pass it no problems, but if you hold it at that point it just shuttles back 'n forth.
Never done it before, no slip in any of the gears, still pulls no issues.
Fluid was changed 25,000k's ago,
Going to drop the fluid again to see if it cures it, leaving the filter at present, then carry out another flush in 500k's.
But, has anyone seen anything like this before, any ideas Gents?
Rgds,
Jim

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, dropped the fluid as planned.
Still the same as expected, but didnt hurt to rule that one out.
New governor housing arrived from ZF, so will take the tranny case off and replace the three O rings & governor.
If not the box has to come out.
Strange part is if the TQ was slipping wouldn't any materiel make its way into the sump.
Its just strange how it flipped to the lower speed straight away in locking up, just didnt do it over a period of time.
