    Rear Disco Door Jammed

My rear door won't open! I went on some rough and dusty tracks down the south coast last weekend, washed the dust off Monday and that afternoon the door wouldn't open. This is the rear door with the spare wheel on it at the back. The door lock lifts when you use the remote switch but it feels when you lift the handle, inside or outside like it has no contact with anything. Also it seems as if the door may not be shut as tight as it should be and makes a creaking sound when pushed against. It is sealed as it should be around the top and far side but there is a small gap around the lock/latch area which I don't remember seeing before -(could be imagination). I have tried both key remotes, and switching the car on and off etc etc but it is still jammed. Any clues???
Also, does anyone know where I can get a centre rear seat seat belt from, none in the Wollongong wreckers yards???

Are you able to climb into the luggage area ?

If you can try to remove the trim panel to access the inside of the door and manually work the lock to open the door.. then it's just a case of working out what's happened and repairing it.

Good chance the door might have 'fallen' due to the rough road and jammed over the striker plate essentially locking the door closed.

The "gubbins" of rear door latch can be accessed externally by prising the Sacred Green Oval out of the rear handle housing. I think it can be done by inserting a small screw driver in the gap between the housing and the bottom of the Oval and gently levering it out. A generous squirt of WD 40 similar or better and this may free the mechanism of accumulated dust: "et voila".

I believe this is not an usual occurrence. A mate with a D2 suffers from this problem.

    Worth a go.

PS Let us know how you go.

Classic problem with the Disco 1
This mainly the rear door assmbly is worn and then make it so you can't open the door
As already surjested take off the LR oval and you can get i there. Bit of WD40 may fix it if not , the lock may need reseting as it may have streched over time. Same as happend to the defender front drivers door locks

    jammed door

No luck with the seat belt part. I'll give the badge removal a go first then the trim removal if necessary. I'll let you know what happens.
    Thanks for the replies everyone.
