I haven't seen the 'new sealed' battery style but the 'old sealed' type ones you could still pry open a panel on the top with a screwdriver to access the cells to tip water in or whatever. So in effect it they are either a flat panel and no vents or individual vented cell caps but are still the same battery. Maybe they have changed the design again... :?

How do you do that Such and such wrote?
Vlad Tepes wrote How could anything (a "self regulating charger", for example) stop the battery going flat

Vlad a self regulating charger charges the battery until it is fully charged and then turns off until it drops below a set level. ETC ETC.
As long as the charger has an output greater than the self discharge and drain , the battery remains fully charged.
The 1 amp one is sufficient for me. It will not charge a flat battery very quickly if at all, but it will maintain a fully charged battery.
I have two on my car with Marine plugs on the front so that if I forget and back out they just disconnect. batteries will last for years if fully charged all the time. My Optima is 5 years old now.
I also have now fitted a Megapulse and it seems to work. the Optima full charge voltage went from 12.7 to 12.8 which is apparently asomething over 10 percent capacity.

D'Oh :!:

I get it now - I thought you were talking about something on board the vehicle, not utilising an external power source. No wonder I was confused :!: ops:

As for the quote thing - just look at the post you want to quote, in the top RHS there will be a button that says quote so press that and it will appear in a new message from you. You can edit it from there if you only need to quote a part of the message.
