Either I've been driving the TD5 too long or the 4.6 is using a lot of fuel.:twisted:
Currently getting 17.5L per 100km
Was hoping for a little better than that. Something like 14l per 100km would be fine, giving me a range of around 500km on 70L of fuel.
My only thought is maybe fuel pressure is too high (still unsure on accuracy of gauge) and it's running a little rich but hard to tell without the right equipment. It doesn't smell rich and it gets up and boogies just fine. I guess I could lower the fuel pressure and test.
Any thoughts?
Hi
I have a county with similar gear with a 4.2 out of a lse rangie but with solex 175 cd,s
My fuel consumption is similar, probably higher.
They are a thirsty v8. I run mine as duel fuel mainly for the range.
Clive
Well I've checked the fuel pressure against a known gauge and although my gauge is a little off I don't think the slightly high pressure (now adjusted) is the reason behind my 17.5L/100. :D:D
Welcome back to the rover V8 Mick!!:twisted:
True indeed Chris. I think the reason for the 17.5L/100 is due to the sound of the engine. :D
Was thinking of selling the TD5 but even Jenn is telling me to keep it.
:)
keep the tD5 and sell the noise...:wasntme:
You're doing well. My cosseted 3.9 (14CUX) is more like 18 to 20 litres per 100km, and that's driven nicely and NO off-road foolishness...
- And its still a gutless wonder. - There's a certain Gentleman over here with a tD5 in a Classic LSE, and it runs rings around mine on nearly half the thirst.
Hows the temp sender for the ecu, this is known for rich running when faulty.
