Rear worklamp on a fender?

G'day,

I would like to fit a worklamp/spotlight on the back of the Defender. Will probably bolt the light to my roofrack so I've got a few questions:

Where is a good spot to run the wire into the cabin :?:
What is the best channel from the rear of the fender to the battery box :?:
How do I wire up the light to be activated with a switch but also activate in reverse gear when the switch is on :?:
TIA,

Henry.

I can answer the last part.

To switch it on as a Aux lamp and Reverse lamp.
Mount a relay near the battery. Have the feed that comes from your reverse switch wired to the relay, then the reverse switch will switch it on. then have the 100w lamp wired into the relay to stop power overload on existing wiring.
then you can turn it on from the Front while you are stationary or to have it on while driving to see what you just ran over....

Getting the wire to the back i dont know.
I was thinking of Aux power the rear of mine and i was going to run 3/4" Steel conduit under the floor to the rear from the battery boxes. It will stop stick and rocks that way.

You're missing the wiring from the auxiliary switch to the relay.

Wiring depends to a degree on whether your reverse light switch switches battery or earth. Let's assume it switches the earth.

1st Option - disadvantages - will come on every time reverse is selected and reverse will come on every time the Aux light is switched on.

+12v ----------o Reverse Light o-------o Reverse Switch o--- earth

+12v ----------o Relay Coil o-----------o Aux Switch o-------- earth

+12v ----------o Relay NO contact o---o Aux Light o---------- earth

You could stop the reverse light coming on with the Aux switch if you wired in a diode (with right polarity) between the reverse and auxiliary switches but that would still leave the aux light to come on with reverse gear. To prevent this you really need a second switch to isolate the wiring.

Late edit: the system is dropping blanks I've used to space stuff out. That vertical bar at the far left between the +12v marks should be aligned such that it joins the left sides of the reverse switch and the aux switch.
