I can't afford the big name brands tho I'm sure there are good shocks in the moderate price bracket, but which one's to choose?
I'll put these on the list, thanks for your post.

Just to throw a spanner in the works,my mate with the Rubicon sent his back, three blew seals, the ones he got as warranty have been fine but he hasn't been on any trips, another mate with an 80 blew the seals out of his Iron man, both in hot dry conditions with plenty of corrigations, another cruiser,I don't know him had his Billies do just fine, like mine they got so hot the corrigated rubber cover for the shaft melted but they kept going. Ok so I picked up my Oztec shocks today and asked the question "Whats the catch with lifetime warranty"

They said if I can prove the purchase of the shocks buy receipt and im the original owner they are warranted for life.

I said "so if I come back in 10 years because they are leaking youll fix them?"

They said "no we give you a new one."

Ive been using this company for 10 years as I was a service manager and they run a great business.
Also the shocks are made in the Cofap factory

    Cheers
    Michael.

Well THAT is an exceptional warranty and I stand corrected.

I used Cofap shocks in street / track cars years ago... They were well valved and worked really well.

    Can't beat that warranty!

Usually a lifetime warranty is product lifetime so they are standing by it for sure!

    Thanks for confirming the detail.

    Interesting read - Thanks.
I've just put terrfirma +2 shocks on the p38. At high speed (the speed of the bounce and jounce - not the speed of the car) they seem matched to the spring well, and control the body well. At low speeds I feel it's a little too firm, but not 'crashy' (if that's a term...). We're pushing gvm when we go on trips, and the km2s weigh a ridiculous amount, so we'll see how they last.
I've had leaking seals on the set of bilsteins I had on the classic. To that point the koni heavy tracks were far better quality - never leaked or faded, and they got an absolute flogging!!!

I have +2" terras on my Defender. Done about 15000km on dirt road, highway, bush (not much 4wd) and beach with no problems at all. Comfortable ride when loaded up, good grip and no fade. Would happily reccomend them.

    Hey Benji
Funny you say that. Ive had 2 sets of bilsteins on my cars and both of those have had at least 1 shock leak too.
    Cheers
