Tacho different in soft dash to 85 model
Hi All
I have a 94 soft dash rangie im about to fit a injected 5l holden into .
Ive recently bought an 85 with the full conversion including engine already fitted .
I will be doing full engine swap .
My question relates to the tachos in these two models as they are different .
The conversion has been professionally done in the 85 including mods required to have operational tacho so im not sure with these tachos being different if I will need a different sensor or something or modification of some form for the sensor which will be driving the later model tach .

The 85 has a tacho driven off the alternator. So engine choice doesn't matter much.
The 94 soft-dash have the same instruments as a 94-96 Honda Accord. They are still alternator driven (mine is 300tdi), but I haven't chased through the wiring.

Alt wire in a soft dash is white with brown trace from memory, has an inline resistor in it I think

Guys thanks for your help here .
Vern does the tach wire you mention simply feed from alternator .
Any idea why a resistor is inline .

Yes it does, resistor is to reduce the voltage at the dash/gauge iirc, runs on 6volts or something like that from memory
