Fuel Tank sizes?

    G'day Guys,

Anyone know for sure the correct size of the earlier (1987) metal & later (1990+) plastic RR fuel tanks are in litres?

    Cheers Shaun,

I have the option on transfering the one from the 1997 Disco I am wrecking into my RR while I do the TDI conversion.

Just trying to work out is it worth while.

I'd fit the Diesel tank if it fits (it should) and the rest of the fuel line including the rear sediment filter. .

    G'day Mahn,

Yes I will be using the sedimentor and the duel line from the Disco - stupid not to!!!

However I have a D110 Tdi tank for my D100 that would fit straight into the RR and hook upto the Disco fuel lines - given a bit of re-routing.

I could then use the Disco plastic tank in the D100.

Just trying to make one job easy - after all there are plenty of other "interesting" jobs needed to be done.

What do you recon? So far I think the RR steel tank is 79 litres and the Disco plastic tank is 89 litres, so really is it worth it all?

Make sure you fit the modified shim metal gasket between the tdi block and water inlet houseing, get rid of the paper one or it will leak sooner or later. Gasket is about $10 and it will never fail again. Also don't use the drain on the Disco sedimentor, it's nylon and often breaks, you are better to undo the center bolt from the top and drop the whole bowl this way you can clean the bowl as well.

    Cheers Shaun,

I had already practiced the centre bolt mechanism on the sedimentor on my previous Disco - good old mechanic warned me about these!!!

    THX for reminding me

Now the question is, I have a D110 Tdi tank from a 1998 model - what is the capacity if this metal tank?

    ops:

Didn't mean to insult your intelligence.

7.5 litres equates to 75 km of range in the diesel or say 40 km in the V8

I guess that depends which vehicle you wnat to go away in.

I'd put the larger tank in the V8 if that is the only choice.
