HELP: LT95 jumping out of high range ( stuck between cloncurry and JC)

    Hey,

Currently stuck between Cloncurry and Julia Creek and have limited reception.

110 County with 4bd1 and lt95. Driving along I lost all drive. Found out the high/low lever went to neutral.

Put it in High drove off and it jumped out driving forward but not reverse

Put it in Low drove off, Ok. Reverse it jumps out.

Found the vacuum lines to diaphragm had melted. Replaced but cant get 4wd.

    Any ideas?

I will try and limp back to the Curry in low and go from there.

    Thanks in advance.

This might be stupid, what if you hold it pushed to high range?

Most likely has a failed thrust washer/s on intermediate shaft in transfer case. Only way to tell 100% is to drop oil and see if it is bronze coloured, and take off bottom cover and check shaft endfloat. Should have almost none. Also check that the high low lever isn't touching the seatbox, and that you don't have a failed engine or transmission mount. My money however is on the transfer case thrust washers...:-(

Almost at the Curry, will get towed back to the isa from there.

Tried holding it. Doesnt matter how hard you hold it, it still jumps out

I would say that it has lunched the thrust washer/s. Not a good outcome. Know anyone in the 'isa that understands lt95's? They are easy to repair, can be done in the vehicle. Mmmm, I need a holiday in central qld...
