A rebuild kit with steels is around $480 on ebay if your brave, I have a heatsink cooler mounted on my bullbar above the winch and a pipe type cooler between my front intercooler and radiator on my 300tdi 110 and use synthetic fluid.
Approx 2 years ago i was driving home from Kawana to Kallangur when the torque convertor wouldnt lock up, got home in the driveway and in drive with foot on the brake to test stall it went clunk and would only work in reverse as it binded. I had to hire a hilux for a week while a found and fitted another auto[the defer is far more comfortable than a hilux].
You could always try Hansi at Clontarf 0417757056 for a 2nd hand box but there are no guarantees[dont mention me] or MR as mentioned above

Here is a link to an earlier post from 2013 that may help. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ml#post1953665

We had ours reconditioned in 2013 in Sydney. Total cost was $2800+GST and it is still going strong.

Last couple of times on the beach I have been suffering from slippage after prolonged periods of heavy going in the soft sand. Recently when starting of from cold it holds on to 1st gear until it changes into 2nd gear at 45kms an hour, this soon goes back to normal after warming up. Sometimes first thing in the morning it will not engage forward gear or reverse gear for a minute or two. I have been advised by the repairer it will be a minimum $2000. Can anyone tell me the current price for a rebuild in Brisbane and who is good and reliable.

Ours needed a full rebuild and cost about $4k at Saddleton Automatics in Coffs Harbour.
It depends on what has to be done. If it just needs a good service you might get out of it for $2k. Often they can't really tell until they open it up.
MR Auto sends their ZFs to ZF in Sydney for rebuilding.
