I have a loose baffle in my Cat. Last year it moved to a point that it caused partial blockage.
It idled fine but was down on power and was flat out at 80 kph. I turned it off, gave the cat a kick which must have dislodged the baffle and all was good again.
Is it possible you could have a similar problem?

Had a Disco II in the workshop about a year ago, same symptoms as yours.
it would get up to about 80km/h but feeling like getting hold back by a bungee rope.
fuel pump was dead as a stone, replaced with VDO, same as original 30% less in price.

Well, an update!
Today I replaced the MAF with a VDO unit and the boost modulator with the OEM Pierburg unit and hooked it all up.
And the result was......
No change :(
Fuel pump it is (I hope).
8 months to do those small jobs! What have you been doing all this time?

Lack of much disposable income had me pretty disinterested in the car to be honest.
But I've got 4 months worth of 72 hour weeks doing harvest work as of monday so I should be able to get it sorted ;)
I will be unemployed soon. 5th of Jan to be exact.

You can rule out the pump before you buy one if you remove the FT sensor and screw in a pressure gauge instead of it... if the HP stage of the pump is gone you'll not get above 1 bar there, or if it's only partially dead maybe more but below 3 and the symptom is low power... if you get 4 bar pressure there the problem is not the pump so you can save some money... another way of checking the pump but this is not always relevant is by measuring it's current draw, remove the fuse (F10 engine bay) and close the circuit with mutimeter set to 20A, if you'll get below 10 A with pump running(the lowest the worst) then it's 100% fubar'd(seen this myself 3 times) though even if the current draw is good(around 15A) doesnt mean that the pump is 100% good but in most cases it is
if you have nanocom read the ambient pressure, inlet air temp and manifold pressure to rule these out cos any of these sensors can cause low power without throwing a fault code
map sensor.
It should show on a noncom.....
