TD5 Flywheel Bolts
I am in the process of changing my clutch. As most of you would be aware there are two methods of tightening the flywheel bolts - Either up to 110NM, or stage 1 40Nm, followed by stage 2 (a further 90 degrees). My question is, stage 2 has almost tightened these bolts to 180-200Nm. I struggled to reach 90 degrees with my huge breaker bar and I managed to crack my Sidcrome socket on one nut. Surely this torque is way to tight? Do I run the risk of these bolts shearing off?
Thanks for your advice.
