Rangie key fob and keys

1. Who has bought a new key fob, and (I read this on here somewhere) how is it reprogrammed to match the individual car.

2. Who has had new keys made / cut for their Rangie / Disco ? I know there's an American mob on ebay that sell the blanks and can apparently cut them from the code (which I fortuitously have written in my owners manual ) - but has anyone actually done this :?:

3. Currently we are only able to use the fob for remote locking while VERY close to the vehicle, like beside the door. Could this just be the batteries in the fob or could there be some other reason to do with the 'in-vehicle' part of the system :?:
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

1. If you already have one key fob you are OK. you can buy another key fob unit (only from LandRover as British4WD were unsuccessful) for $190.

I posted an excerpt from the workshop manual about re initialising a hand set.

2. I had plain keys cut from the originals at the local Mr Minit. Not sure if you mean proper headed ??? keys. The key is "Silica" and the code says NE38

3. Not sure, batteries a good place to start.

I had 2 new keys cut from blanks by my local locksmith. All they needed was the VIN number to get the key code. If you already have the code your halfway there. My original Rover key was worn past duplicating, I don't use it at all anymore. The new ones don't say 'Range Rover' that's all
