    I apologize...i've seen first sentence about Td5 then jumped to the new post... though i think that the tyre size is similarly relevant for any turbo diesel

    I agree. So, serious question as I have a TD5 also: wouldn't a TD5 self manage it's EGTs? Mine is chipped, but I've never seen the need to put an EGT gauge in it.

    I dont think that the Td5 self manages the EGT, it's also throttle, boost, gear and load dependant, maybe worst on autos cos at least on the manual you can select lower gear when ever you want...i'm constantly watching the EGT and ECT and what i described with the only 4% bigger tyres is real.
