Hey mate.
I reckon if you give the poor old girl a good wash and vacuum all the sand out of the carpet the fault code will disappear.![]()

Hi guys
Could any one give me any ideas on what this fault code is? The code is from a nano com on my Disco 2 td5 2000 auto transmission?

It's about the CAN communication data blink between the ECM and EAT(transmission) ECU, it can be triggered by oil in the ECM red plug too

thanks for the info im not sure i tottaly understand. Ill give you a little more history i hope you have some more info??.
New gear box two years ago new wiring loom/harness, gear box had heaps of problems then blew up a month or so ago, replaced gear box again. The car was surging so i replaced the modulator and fixed part of issue.
When i drive very irregulary it seems to not catch a gear. Then my mates nanocom gave me this, fault reading, I hope its not a massive gear box problem as me and the auto transmission boss are just about having bbq....
I can't make presumptions about gearbox issues i can only tell you about that fault code that it has nothing to do with the gearbox itself, it's about the datalink between the engine ECU and transmission ECU and i said about oil in the red plug cos there are the connections of that wiring and oil can act as insulator, as long as we are speaking about CAN it's about that:
if you are sure that the gearbox is mechanically OK and you have gear change problems you should try to replaace the EAT ECU to rule it out, the bay is full of them and tghey are not so expensive1. Controller Area Network (CAN) system
The CAN system is a high speed serial interface between the ECM and the Electronic Automatic Transmission (EAT)
ECU. The CAN system uses a data bus to transmit information messages between the ECM and the EAT ECU.
Because there are only two components in this CAN system, one will transmit information messages and the other
will receive information messages, and vice-versa.
2. Software in the EAT ECU monitors hard wired inputs and exchanges information with the ECM on a Controller Area
Network (CAN) bus to determine gear shift and torque converter lock-up requirements. Resultant control signals are
then output to the gearbox solenoid valves.
