OIL PRESSURE DROP ON GAUGE AFTER STICK

Hi QUESTION TO ALL

On Monday I drove in to a sick ops: ops:
Damaged the oil filter (no leaks) and went in all the way to the stater motor.
After that the oil pressure dropt from above 4 on the gauge to about 0.5 to 1.5 on the gauge in the 79 R.R. :? :? :?
Can the damage on the filter course the pressure to drop? Or what else any ideas guy? :?: :?:

assuming you have the correct level of oil in the motor.....

it sounds like the stick has damaged something else.

have another good look before you take it to the workshop.

good luck

I am guessing the oil pressure sender is electric and would be close to the oil filter. A poor connection can show on the gauge as low oil pressure so start at the sender.

Take the lead off the sender, clean both contacts, then refit and run motor again to see whether that changes anything.

If nothing changes, borrow or buy a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge (uses actual oil pressure to move the needle around the dial), remove the electric sender from your motor and fit the mechanical. Run motor and check what the mechanical one shows.

The mechanical will show either there is an internal problem with oil pressure (oil pump, relief spring) or just a bung sender unit (bad connection).

A little change subject, sorry!
A Z9 is that only for the V8's or will it fit on a 300tdi, easier to get hold of than z89A'd.

i think the Z89A is what the early v8 disco's run.
i dont know what the ''d'' bit is for, maybe diesal????
if so they might be different, in bypass pressures so i wouldnt
run one till you compare it to z89a.

i run fleetruard filters on my disco, i had a fleetguard
book that listed all the info, thread size, working pressure
bypass pressure ect ect, thats how i changed my filters.
from memory there are 3 different fleetguard filters( different
sizes nit internals.)
that i can run all cheaper than ryco.

ring up a fleetguard dealer they will have the same book/CD
that i used.
