    Problems lifting defender

I got a set of King Springs that were advertised to give 3" lift over standard. I forgot to measure the height of the car before and after lifting it but after swapping over it made a huge difference. I got some standard landcruiser shockies that I was told by a couple of sources fit well with a 2-3" lift (although I had to fit them upsidedown). I tested the articulation on a wall, and it looked sweet, tested the braking, steering ect and thought it went well.

That was before I spent the next 4 hours bouncing all the way to Bathurst from Sydney! The smallest bump sent the thing bouncing up and down for the next 100m. I had to stick to 100km/h because it started to get ridiculous. So now I'v got a sore back and a new condition of motion sickness, I wouldn't mind finding out if anyone else has used toyota series shocks on a defender with a lift, or what I should be using.

The shocks and springs are as new and I had a spare tyre in the back, so there was a bit of weight back there.

    Any suggestions?

    Alex

the problem isnt in your springs its the shockies or more to the point
    how you mounted them.
    Shockies dont work upside down!!!!!
ask that question to any suspension fitter.
they would be oil over gas shock's the oil is now sitting at the wrong end of the shock, instead of oil going throught the piston and valves its gas.

put the standard ones back on till you get a longer set.

I should probably do my research before fitting them!

Yep. Bilsteins and probably OME "LTR" specifically are about the only ones you will get away with mounting upside down as they run the oil seperate to the gas.

Probably. A 2" spring is usually done off the shelf by using stiffer springs. An off the shelf 2" lift also wont give you 2" of extra travel or articulation.
