Disco security

As some of you may have read, I am in the market for a Disco. One of the FIRST things I will be looking at once I find one is an alarm system.

I'd be interested to know of any particular systems that work or don't work well for a Discovery install. BTW, I'll be looking at a Series 1 V8 manual...

Thanks in advance.

But Disco's come with a factory fit Alarm with Centrol locking.
It sounds the Horn when it goes off and is operated by bonnet sensors and interior cabin infrared.
If ya don't like the horn then maybe fit a police siren to it, that'll attract attention

if you are worried about the truck being nicked then (if it is diesel ) then cut into the diesel pump conection cable (wire plug that sits on the top of the pump.) Put a swicth under the dash conected to this and the truck will not start untill the swtich is turned on.

Will seem to someone who wants to nick it that it will start as it will turn over but not start. By this time you will have heard them or they will give up.

I think we're missing the point here.... Who'd want to nick a Series I Disco anyway?

If you just want to immobilise, just flick the fuel pump inertia switch. I don't know about the Disco but on the RaRo it was under the passenger seat.

Who'd steal one?

Who'd steal a 1987 TN Mistibit****i Magna with no hubcaps? The filth who pinched mine for the bumpers, the lights, by accident my tools (jemmied the boot and found them, I had to carry them because it was such a poo box) and then for joy the windscreen was smashed.

Who'd steal a VN Toyota Lexcen and crash it at speed into a fire hydrant and two parked cars in Victoria St Richmond at 8.00am on a Friday morning? The only thing that was touched is that they removed my Trout Fishing In Quebec CD and threw in into the back. Some people have no taste.

Suspect everyone!

I'll certainly have to look into a sneaky switch somewhere, but I want a decent alarm system that will scream if anyone looks at it for too long.

Forgot to mention a little poetic justice. Upon crashing my VN, the thief slammed his head into the windscreen and left a beautiful little dint and spiderweb of fractures. He still had the where with all to get out and run down to the Yarra out of sight, hopefully to die painfully but quietly without offending anyones ears with cries of regret.

Well you are lucky that the theif didn't sue you for damages!
We had a burg at work one night a couple of yeasrs ago. He stole some petty cash and a mobile phone.
We rang the number and the burglar answered. We asked for our mobile phone back. He said ok but wanted compensation as whilst he ripped the security screen off the rear window, and was climbing into the premises he cut himself on the window frame. He wanted compensation for the pain and inconvenience!

Needless to say, he kept answering the phone and we set him up with a rendezvous for the pay off, police in waiting. When he tried to make the switch he was nabbed.
A STUPID HEROIN DEALER & BURGLAR!.
And he got no compensation!

I'd be more than happy for him to come and discuss it with me. He wouldn't make it far!
