    Old diesel

I was cleaning out my dad's shed and came across a jerry can of diesel that would have to be at least 20 years old. Has the formula for diesel changed since then, for example less sulphur, and can old diesel be used in a modern 2.4 L Puma Tdci engine?

    Modern diesel has low sulphur,
don't use old high sulphur diesel if you have a DPF , generally not safe for use in CRD engines but I would have no problem with adding half a jerry to a full tank of fresh diesel and a dose of algaecide.

Euro4+ has a standard for fuel and Im going to go out on a limb and say that that jerry of diesel isnt going to cut it.

odds are its not likely to do any short term harm and if blended down a lot that it would do any long term harm.

    Old diesel?

I agree that if blended it probably won't do much harm.....Probably!

But is saving $30 of diesel worth the risk? What's an in tank fuel pump worth $300? And high pressure fuel pump, a few thou? A set of injectors ????

I'd be using it in the parts washer.
