    Indicators..

Hi has anyone ever had an issue with indicators not working if the heater is on in the car? First noticed it when I had the air-con on but also have it with the heaters on? Seems to stop the indicators from working.. Does anyone have a good place to start looking for the problem please....

Swap to lower wattage bulbs or led replacements, sorry cant help with your other problem - It is normal for the trailer light to flash once or twice when you indicate but if continuous change the bulbs.

Yes thanks loanrangie, I know they are meant to flash a couple of times, but since wiring the bull bar inductors on it seems to pick up I have a trailer on so I will try what you suggested, thanks..

ive seen it on a badly mutilated fuse block in a perentie.., the indicators were drawing power off of the heater circuit, but with the heater on the resistance to the indicator circuit was high enough to not get the flasher can to flash, the indicators would stay on permanently but very very dimly.

heater off and normal intermittent lighting resumed.

did you know that blinking indicator lights were original feature for landrover, it wasnt designed that way but thats lucas electrics for you.

I'm going to guess that having these large electrical loads on is pulling the system voltage down to the point where the indicator flasher won't function, like in Dave's scenario above. Unless your wiring is mixed up like that Perentie's was, the only way I can see it happening is the either the earth cable or supply cable from the starter motor to bulkhead being corroded or loose. If that's the case though, the headlights would be dim with the heater on too. Is that happening?

Hi guys I've only noticed the indicators when the heater is on, weird thing is that it's an intermittent problem as sometimes the indicator will flash then stop. Turn the heater off and hey indicators back, cannot comment on the headlights as it's always been daylight when the issue has happened so I will try it when it's dark and see what the affect is. Thanks
