Series 2A rear tub on 110 wagon chassis?

    Hi,

I have found a cheap (4k) 110 County wagon which I would like to use to convert my Series 2A softop to coil springs and V8 power by replacing all the 110 body panels from the firewall back with my 2A body parts.

How interchangeable are the series panels with the 110's? Years ago I fitted a softop tub to a series wagon chassis and some of the tub support brackets on the chassis were missing but it fitted OK. I presume the 110 would be similar?

What about the 110 windscreen frame - will a Series cab or softop brackets bolt up to it?

i think they are all the same in terms of width & length etc. Would imagine chassis mounting the only difference. I run a defender soft top and it fits perfect. I have seen 110 windscreen assemblys fitted to series so the reverse is possible. series doors fit defenders. defender bulkheads fit series. They havn't changed much.

it will never look like a S2 with the flush front .

btw - toorak tracktor co in braeside (melb) has a 110 chassis in good nick for ~$450

dont buy anything based on what i say as i am often wrong.

I saw a bloke with what looked like a 200tdi defender chasis cab with a series ute tub on the back. Looked OK, only thing was the wheel arches needed trimming because difference in wheel base. There was a fair bit of chequer plate in some odd places so maybe there was some chopping and rivetting that needed covering up as well.

It's a great idea, and now there's the odd 110 floating about for under 5k this is the golden age of experimentation!

As crossey said, i think the chasis mounts are different.

One thing that is different for sure - is that the wheel arch boxes are a different height (the series is lower by about 10cm, so it would need to be raised over the tyre to get full compression)
