Unless it's done bulk miles or they are dry of lube or full of water the bearings will be fine, just repack them and do the seals replace the lock tabs etc. Ring Dwane at MR in Brisbane he will send you what you need at the right price.
Hi all, I am planning quite a few routine maintenance type things while i try and sort out my steering shudder problem.
I want to do the wheel bearings on all corners and the diff and swivel housing seals. Can someone give me a shopping list of things i will need so i can start working out costs.
TIA
Matt

Agree....
1 - Pop the hub flange & hub nuts off.
2 - Check for crud, rust and water in the grease or around the area....
You'll probably find that the slines are dry and have some surface rust but just clean that off and apply some grease with your fingers.
3 - Re-pack with some more grease and re-assemble.
(Remember to clean off the old locktite off the bolts and scrape off the old flange gasket. It's good practice to run a tap down the bolt threads to clear out any old crud before assembly)
The only parts that you should need are 4x lock tab washers and 4x hub flange gaskets... and if you don't already have one, a hub spanner!

Thanks Shaun and CL, I will order the seals and go from there. I have done a fair bit of muddy water work. Is it worth doing the swivel housing seals if they arent leaking? Matt

yep... if they are fine leave them alone... however if you are doing them.. they are not that hard... best way to do it is to remove stub axle and hub as complete assembly from axle housing and just replace the seal from the rear... no need to strip hub and swivels as well![]()

if you're going to do the seals, order part # RTC3511 (remember to seat them 4mm below the hub face)
These are the older style, double lip, double energised deal that were used on oil lubed hub Landy's. (200Tdi back)
They will do a far better job of keeping water out.
If you use them, you can also pull out the axle tube seals, (if they aren't already leaking) and oil lube the wheel bearings, which will dramatically reduce spline wear on the axle/drive flanges.
IF he getts them from MR in Brisbane that's what they will recomend.
Thanks guys, much appreciated. Matt
