My Defender 1997 180,000 has had one about 60,000 ago and now small drop of fluid on floor in cabin under clutch pedal, (will try seal kit). a friend in our Club TD5 Xtreme 2002 has had three, another guy TD5 130 2001, has had two
Davids ruined a great trip to High Country 2003 it let go at Mansfield at a garage and couldn't move off, hows that for luck but took 4 days to get away again.

I hope one of the forum members is a "Land Rover Australia" company man!
They need to get some customer feedback on reliability, especially with a simple hydraulic clutch cylinder failure. Its not rocket science is it?
I did not see mine after it was replaced at the dealers. Is it related to a casting or machine fault? or just Crap seals? :oops:
Would someone like to post the seal repair kit number or alternative parts here. I think I will purchase some asap and carry them with me.

The other issue I had after replacement of the master cylinder was the clutch pedal travel. It almost hit the floor to get the thing to work, and then re engaged just off the floor. I played with the adjustment myself and improved it somewhat. I removed the washer off the end of the shaft adjuster (Nyloc nut end), to let the pedal come up a bit further. The front locking nuts are adjusted so the shaft has a small amount of freeplay when fully disengaged. It seems to be ok at present.
