Check the seals on the clutch master cylinder.
Mine just did the same thing and a $9.00 seal kit fixed it all up.
Just recently, the 'fender has been intermittently losing clutch pedal pressure. Started about a week ago when the clutch refused to engage from neutral. Had to pump it a bit to get some pressure back before being able to take off from the lights.
Had a heart stopper on the weekend trying to leave a parking lot at the pub, when it wouldn't disengage from 1st 8O (ended up stalling). After a bit more pumping, it disengaged before I started up and drove it away.
When I am moving, the clutch pedal almost completely loses pressure, but it gives me a nice racing clutch with about 1cm of travel between engaged/disengaged. Makes it interesting doing hill starts! :x
As a complete novice, I have no idea what's causing this. There hasn't been a hint of clutch slip too.
Any ideas what could be causing it? Solutions? :?

There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours
....also check the clutch slave. I've found that the slave & master tend to fail in pairs!
The other problem that happens on Landys is that the slave quite often punches a hole through the release fork... However, if you had this, no matter how many times you pumped, nothing would happen.
Mark.
or theres an air leak rather that the cylinders seals have failed.
sounds like master cylinder to me...
how old is the fender?
mine started playing up at twelve months old then came good again for six months then i had it replaced.
Thanks for the help
It's a '99 td5 (80,000kms), so I think it's done reasonably well.
Replaced the master cylinder seals last night (that's heaps of fun at night with torches as your only source of light ), so far, so good 8) . Clutch pressure is constant and there's been no need for any pumping. Gave my hands a hiding with loosening some of the fitting bolts and the bleed valve, but not too much blood!
Found it hard to source a specific repair kit in Brisbane though. Ended up going to a clutch specialist (Action Mechanical in Hendra) and they fixed me up for about $10.
I'm now waiting for the slave to go.....

My master cylinder was replaced under warranty at 30,000 klms. :?
I hope it will not become a regular event.

I'm on 108,000km with no trouble so I don't think it's that common.
