    He does load a fair bit of gear in the tray quite often he tells me and he does use the Defender for his holidays which have included trips to the NT and Kimberley etc.

    I'm getting the idea that for his everyday work the Monroes will do the job but if he does load it up a bit and uses it for long trips even once a year then it is a vehicle he uses a lot and probably would reward him if he put better shocks (and springs when the time came).

    with regards to the pin end bushes, I've always found Nissan Patol OE ones excellent substitutes on the bottom side (takes load when damper is in rebound)
    These are much larger in diameter than even the OE L/R ones, and so last a hell of a lot longer.
    Of course they can't be used on TD5 'fenders with the fixed cups....(such a dumb idea...)
