Recently I switched on my Defender and started it up. The motor purred. I tried to get some power to no avail. Then managed to reverse out and go down the road. When I was a couple of kilometres from home the acceleration ceased to exist and I managed to cruise into a safe spot off the road. I tried a number of times to take off again but there still was no power. RACQ came to the rescue and delivered my vehicle to the local dealers.

After many hours of electrical checks later, they eventually found the fault. It wasn't in the computer as they thought. It was a faulty custom cruise control that had been fitted prior to my purchasing the vehicle. I actually had never used it, anyway, too much bother. Anyway it was disconnected and all was good. I cruised off into the sunset once again. Happy to be behind the wheel again. So if you ever have an issue with electrics on your vehicle, maybe it could be coming from an addition that probably should not have been made to the vehicle. My motto is 'Keep it pure and original'.
