    Winch wiring.

Ready to re fit my winch and while looking at the wiring diagram i see a ground wire from winch motor to solenoid pack, my winch was just using the bolts to winch cradle/chassis as the ground.
Should i be fitting a ground wire or even neg back to battery ?

If it's the thin wire, I'd say follow the wiring diagram. I would probably run it back to the solenoid pack, but not the battery. You could probably get away with going from the motor to a chassis ground, if you really needed to.

No extra grnd wire for first 5 years it was in and never had a problem, only noticed the grnd wire in the diagram and wondered if it was necessary.

You're talking about the motor ground, right?

Oh, by commercial use I mean giving it away and pretending it is yours. I don't mind if you use it in your workshop.

Looks like 1 or more of the ingram 9557 solenoids have died, wont replace as i can get a single 500A replacement for about the same cost - looks like it wont be in for the weekend .
