Buy a complete compressor and hose from Aldi - or go onto eBay and buy a hose from China.
I need a new hose for my TJM ox compressor, i rang TJM and a replacement is $55.
Including fittings etc its not bad but what other options are there, hose i guess would be approx. 4mm id if i went the pirtek/enzed route.

Check out air compressor or nail gun repairers and they should be able to make something up for you.
My ARB compressor uses the same style male/female ends as a bostich nail gun - ARB calls it a 'US standard industrial fitting'
Don't fall into the trap that a bigger hose ID will be faster for pumping your tyres up. Someone can probably explain more eloquently that I, but pressure at the end of the hose is a function of the hose length and ID, so make sure you stick with the factory supplied hose size.

I have no idea what factory hose size is but most portable compressor's use around 4mm ID hose so thats what i'm aiming for.
This looks ok for the price, if its crap i havent lost much.

Industrial supplies such as BJ Bearings will be able to sort you out with hose and fittings, better and probably cheaper than any of those hardware places.
A word of caution from me from recent experiance.
I've fitted a TJM air compressor under the seat of our latest acquisition.
I burnt a hole in the airline next to the fitting from the heat at the compressor outlet.
The female outlet on the TJM compressor is just screwed into the head.
This hose I had used prior on an ARB compressor but the fittings where mounted to the tank so relatively cooler.
I'm going to see if I can possibly have a fitting on the TJM hose instead of their inflator.
I can then add a second hose to reach the trailer as needed.
It's on in the thought stage and on the to do list.

if you mean by PVC the air hose you get from bunnings, super**p for a workshop compressor, i went that route. They are robust. They are also a PITA to pack up neat and compact. Long and short they consume a fair bit of space in your kit simply because you can't roll them into the same size as the ARB or el-cheaper hoses.
I used a 600mm length of braided line on the compressor head before the PVC hose to help with heat. I cheaped out and used plumbing gas braided hose but abandoned that hose for a teflon braided hose from a diving kit which is rated to 200 psi. The heat kills the connection between the braided hose and the terminal resulting in it blowing out if you leave the compressor on without releasing the pressure (i.e. when you throw the hose under the truck to get to the other side). A hose clamp on the compressor head end of the braided hose will add strength to resist the blow out.
