Good idea... I'll llok at that in the morning.
Lol at the blindspot. That did cross my mind. As long as the child isn't 10ft high and 3 inches wide they should be ok. 8O

Well being a news reporter (who drives a Discovery, and once had a Bronco) I thought the vast irony of this story was that some Holdens were tested (ny the NRMA am I right here?) the worst for rear visibility, omg Australia's 'own car'! tisk tisk.....A Holden? never...... obviously the sole and entire reason I don't drive a Holden...
Didn't test an X1/9 did they, all you see out the rear window in that is kneecaps or numberplates, my eyeline is about where the wheel hub is on the Disco

Now thats more like it, a lighthearted post!
I didn't think the l/rovers had blind spots, after all I can see when I am reversing, however ask my wife, total tally for 12 months, and in Lismore mind you,
1 motorbike, reversed over it,(the spare was in the way)
1 signpost reversed into it, rear near side corner,(didn't see it)
1 fence? same corner, didn't know
1 brick wall same corner, not sure
1 bumper bar of AU Falcon, blamed towbar for sticking out too far.
plus numerous scrapes/marks on the plastic corners of the bumper bars.

Just had a thought what about one of those radar reversing alarm thingys they are putting on a lot of new cars now. I have noticed them more on Fords and now holdens.
I have seen the bargain basement priced ones for $30, that may save ours from further damage.
Or perhaps do as they used to instruct in my occupation, 'the escort of the vehicle will get out when the driver is reversing and assist ' or something like that.
