Thanks Bryce - I'm following up your lead now!!
My County has a large sill tank under the driver's door in addition to the main rear tank. I haven't lost the tool box space under the driver's seat.
The sill tank is as deep as the chassis but slopes up to the level of the out sill. As a result, it is quite neat and doesn't look out of place. I can post a photo if anyone is interested. I can try to find out who made it. It was a commercial tank when installed by the previous owner. I have the receipt at home.
Ron
Yes Ron, I'd be interested to know who made the tank if you can lay your
hands on the receipt.
Thanks.
do you know how many litres it holds?Quote:

"llok" - look twice, double take.......
I'm not sure of the capacity. I'll ask my mate who owned it before me and who had it fitted. I think around 80 litres - the last time I filled the car, the main tank was about 3/4 full and took another 100+ litres to fill it and the long range tank.
I've seen the tank on several other Countys (yeah, I know that the plural of county is counties but as "County" is a proper name, does the plural become "Countys" or "Counties"?. Ditto with the plural of Discovery.)

I spoke with the previous owner. The tank is 60 litres. It was bought from Opposite Lock in 1986 (from the receipt I have).
He thinks it was made in Newcastle - I assume by Fred Black's Out of Town 4WD - are they Long Ranger tanks?
Pix in previous post.

Here's the reply I got from Out of Town:-
We do not make an auxiliary tank to suit the standard setup. We build a
120ltr replacement unit TR40 $881.00 inc GST plus fitting if required!

Graeme Cooper has the 120 litre TR40 listed for $844. No benefit going straight to the manufactured then!

Ron's sill tank is similar to the LRA sill tank I have in the 130.
Not sure of the capacity, as it is an absolute @^%$#*& to fill ! but I usually squeeze 65+ litres in, (depending on how tolerant I am on the day of the blow back) so probably a nominal 70l tank.
My step father and Mum have a Long Ranger 140 litre tank in their TD5 130CC, which they are probably removing (Alice Springs residents take note, it could be on the market soon) and fitting a standard tank and my old rear anti-roll bar. It tends to hang a little too low for comfort.
Did they not mention the 132 ltre TR36 Graeme Cooper list at $942.65 ($800 odd when mine done) as I have fitted to mine which is a "Out of Town...Long Ranger" they are easy to fit, you need another mate to make it simple and and a trolly jack to balance and make it easier still, its held in by four bolts, two close together at the front and two at the rear (a bit fiddley getting the nuts and spanner in tight spot on the back ones). all the other bits hoses etc you refit the standard fittings that just go back on in the same places they came off, nothing else needed.Quote:
