    Aux Fuel Tank for Def

Somewhere, sometime I read about a fuel tank that fills up the rear
mudguard space in a Def wagon on the driver's side.
Seemed like a good idea, but where do you get them?
    And has anyone fitted one?
Can you still get at the electricals - without removing the
tank - if you need to?
    Thanks

Dont go for a MANTEC they are crap, the one in mine rusted to pieces, I have now replaced it with a stainless one from WVA Holdings, seems much better quality.

They are good, fit and forget, you dont have to worry about and quantity sender problems, taps etc. I get 900kms+ out of my rear tank now and 400+ from my front one, it gives me a nice range without having to worry to much about jerry cans etc.

Whe you say you get 900 and 400 is one of these tanks the original? I get nothing like that although I can get consumption down to 10.5 l/100km which would give me 714km if I ran the tank dry (not a good idea).

And what is/are the extra tanks, their fitting, price and source?

    Thanks, Howard

    Thank you all.

Col, I probably saw the aux tank at www.mantec while I was investigating
wheel carriers. Do you know if Mantec's other accessories are Ok or best
avoided? Was the stainless one you got custom made by WVA or a stock
    item?

If i were you i would put a 90 one in. Can order them over there.
The only 90 that has it in the back is the TD5
All the other had them under the drivers seat. So get one of them and put it under the drivers seat, all you have to do is take out the box that is in the 110 under the seat and then fit it in easy. All the bits to do it are already there

Nigel, one the whole MANTEC stuff has a very good reputation for most of their gear.

I dont know if any one elses tank has fallen to pieces, but it seemed to just be coated mild and it was rusted in every way imaginable. The WVA is an off the shelf item, they offer them in mild or Stainless. They also have same great gear, pity they dont have a website. They are also very user friendly, they modded my tank to allow for the rear roll cage mount with out any problems at all, I just gave them the dimensions and the tank turned up a couple of days later and fitted perfectly.

Howard on average my comsumption is only 12.35/100km, my rear tank has one of these wing tanks comected and it just increases the rear tank capacity to 120/125ish lts, the front tanks is a factory fitted one under the passenger seat, similar to that of a 90.

Thank you all for that information/suggestions - I hadn't thought of putting in a 90 tank under the driver's seat - will give that more thought.

"The Long Ranger" brand have a 120 litre (with sway bars) and a 132 litre (cut of sway bar holders) which I have, range on average is 1200 km on my Defender, and I believe these to be the best around. I'm sure they can be found in Melbourne check ARB they are listed as a distributer nationally or email outoftown4wd@hunterlink.net.au for nearest stockist.

There is also an 80 litre tank that fits under your seat, but you loose your tool box (no good for TD5...computer!).

    Cheers
    Bryce
