    Salisbury Pinion Gasket

    Hi all,

Quick question: Does the stc4403 flange & AAU3381 require the gasket 607183? (see No2 @ Defender Salisbury Axle for Land Rover Defender 110 / 130 | LR Parts ). Pulling the flange (old style), oil seal (leather type), large washer (oil slinger?) from my Salisbury shows no gasket anywhere.

If there's no gasket, what stops oil migrating down the splines and leaking around the pinion nut? Can I use some RTV gasket maker or the like instead?

    Thanks,
    Simon

You got it, just put silicon or RTV around the pinion under the washer.
