    D2 V8 cutting out

Well after a coupe of years trouble free motoring our D2 has cut out twice in the same day.
The first time was pulling away from the lights. Took my foot of the brake and put it on the accelerator - engine dies, engine light on, would not restart. After a 20 min gap from the last attempt engine starts and drives normally.

The 2nd time was on a short test drive. After starting and stopping a couple of times with no issue I go over a ridge in the the road and the engine dies (the timing could be a coincidence). Same thing, will not restart, go for a 20 min walk, get back, car starts first time and no trouble getting home.

I think it could be something to do with the fuel pump. Is there a temperature cut-off that operates with the fuel pump and what ever it is likes to cool down before cooperating.

    Any suggestions.

Nooo, we wanted to hang on to it for another 12 -18 months before looking at a D3.

Mind you I'm not interested in paying big $ for exploratory maintenance

classic symptoms of a crank angle sensor failure.is fuel pump not working,no spark, and as they warm up they will stop.it will slowly get worse.$50 odd dollars for a newy so maybe you could keep it a little longer.

And the winner is Lewy with Crank Position Sensor.

    Which is now being replaced.
