sorry Zook, but the bonnet on my 130 is exactly the same as a 110, a weak piece of $%#@.
The spare factory mounts in the left rear corner of a HICAP, (where mine is) or under/on the tray of a tray back.
If you want to mount a spare on the bonnet, you have to buy the corresponding re-inforcement kit, along with the wheel holder assembly thingy, which I've been cautioned against obtaining by friends in the NT as they destroy the bonnet and hinges pretty quickly on corrugated roads.
Looking at the hooks which pass as hinges on my bonnet I see that one side sits higher than the other so it would indicate even with the support that some sort of damage has occured. It may be from somebody standing on it by the shirtload of corrugated roads it has travelled over with a spare on the bonnet.
Having said that the damage does not seem significant and let's face it panel fit in general is not exactly top drawer anyway. It was bought to prevent the spare destroying the back door. I think they are a better option than the standard rear door mount. The rear door lock **** itself anyway.
Anyway, looks sexy.
Mental note - if I ever get a different Landy - swap over the bonnet.
Good point Vlad but that would mean I'd have to choose a white one and when/if I ever upgrade the 300Tdi I was hoping to get a non white one. Always fancied dark green with a white roof. Green Defender with white roof and bonnet would look - interesting - but the white Defender with a green bonnet....
It would be interesting if I was doing a trade in. I'd make my excuses and slip outside for a moment, come in sign the papers and hurriedly drive off. Alf Barbagello would look out his office window and see an old 300Tdi with a green bonnet on the forecourt.
