Also if you run 265/70/16's better raise the seats.
Not a real good mod to do, nothing is in its favour.

Can you run 265/75 on a bog standard 110 :?:
Cheers

I believe you can. The rims can handle them also. (Coopers tyre table confirms this).
The real point is this, (S1 & II owners can probably confirm), the early cars ran lightweight skinny wheels by comparison, and had a spare mounted on the bonnet designed and built for the job.
Throwing a 7" alloy wheel shod with a modern "fat" tyre on a bonnet not designed to handle it, can and probably will, cause panel damage, legal and safety issues.
Maybe a Series owner will weigh a wheel for us for comparison?

I've got some said original 5.5" Defender steel rims (if anyone wants 'em) but nothing to weigh them with. It was no trouble with one of these on the bennoet but as Trev says, a wider & heavier wheel would do damage and rewstrict vision.
Not to mention that a wide wheel on the bonnet would look crook aesthetically.
Hmmm! 5.5", now where is my old Morrie Minor?

Width, ya goose
Correct!
5.5" must be close to a Morrie Minor rim in width.
Soooo Skinny!
Cheers.
A tyre on the bonnet is all very well, but when I was a kid I'm sure it was a lion or a tiger.
Daktari!
