    Tell me it's not so.

I don't think I can change my preferences now, I'm too far into Land Rover territory.

The TV series definately used Jeeps, although the original movie used Rovers.
In the TV show they used Gladiator J2000 utes, and Officer Headley used a CJ6. I remember this very well as Dad had a Jeep Wagoneer and the very first car I bought was a '74 CJ6 (in '83).

Dear old Dad still hasn't forgiven me for buying a Landy.

Well of course I must have been referring to the movie.

My memory is from a matchbox car or similar that my cousin had.

OK... I can't be arsed to read all the replies so appologies if I'm going over old ground here:

The later 'Fender bonnets are not designed to have the wheels mounted on them, they don't have the extra braces and are not strong enough. Your best bet would be to get an older style bonnet & swap it over.

That said, another option would be to use one of those chequer plate inserts to strengthen the area and then mount the carrier through that.

    Mark

PS... I passed some more Mad Max stuff in Coober Pedy & on the road to Oodnadatta.
