    Crickets in my Engine??

I guys strange heading to get a bit of attention. Have two issues that have recently come to my attention.

One is I have a no other way of describing than a cricket in the engine bay. Only appears when I'm sort of cruising, not there when the load is on or right of sort of just back of and its noisy. Can't get it to present when Reving through the ranges in the drive so hard to find.

The other issue that's come around the same time is a whining whiring noise that only comes when driving in gear. Almost sounds like try whine of a supercharger but far quieter. Definitely engine / gearbox related because goes up and down with engine revs but only when in gear. Have noticed it likes to drop torque lockup after about 1 hour of driving but presents no fault. Have had to drop it to neutral then back to drive while on the go and she's good to go for another 30 mins. Unsure if they are all related but I'm stumped.

I've done the egr blanking and also did the manifold while at it so I'm confident about the exhaust side. Done many other major repairs as well so know my rig pretty well but this has got me stuffed. Thanks in advance for the help!!

The engine noise i have no idea on. Crickets, thats an odd one.

The whirring noise, being an Auto i would suspect the transfer case or diff(s).

Diffs are really only apparent when at 80kmh or more cruising.

Transfer case may have a noisy bearing or a few.

Crickets may be the dynamic balancer and not sure with your auto.

Thanks for the advice. Finally got a chance to look into it. It turned out to be the double cardan failure I posted a vid on the failure it was pretty good. Also the whiting noise I have narrowed down to the idler pulley I think it is next to the sitcom and water pump so maybe a replacement jobby but for now it's running fine.
