Ace and Wardy,

From my investigation with S1 disco's the ARB mounting system seems slightly more robust and the mounting plate for the winch attaches to the chassis, and I had heard that the TJM bar was more suceptable to twist under high load as the winch mounts to the bar and the whole lot hangs off the crush cans, it is near impossible to get a look at either before hand and Im only going off pics and other peoples comments, both of which are a bit scarce, Im not sure about the S2 as the bars are different. I think with any air bag bar you will get twist or movement under high loads due to the stretching or compressing of the crush cans.

The ARB bars seem slightly more popular with some of the hard core guys in the states (not that there anything to measure against  ) but that could just be the marketing strength of ARB over TJM over there :?

One of the other reasons I have gone with ARB is the braced uprights and the second smaller bar that runs across above the main bumper section and in the light section that reduces the open area in front of the light and offers some extra protection and strenght to the whole assembly, but as you say it all depands on the strength of the mounts.

I suppose I will find out the hard way if the bar has excessive movement under load and if ARB wont address it then the welder will

    Update time,

Bar arrived less half the mounting hardware and some other bits

Snorkel arrived, sent wrong model (200 TDI)

    Cargo Barrier on backorder

Turbo Timer is the right one, lets hope it works

Got a Kenwood head unit with mp3 WMA and Ipod ready, but cant get the bloody original unit out

I haven't even tempted fate with the window tint yet.

So all in all a pretty crappy outcome, looks like some heated phone calls in the morning

Might even get a bigger discount for being stuffed around

The world is a better place today

A phone call this morning to Darryl at BOAB 4x4 and this afternoon when I arrived home there was a complete new bullbar 8O and the correct snorkel sitting in boxes on the garage floor

Apparently the first bar had been on someone elses car and for whatever reason was removed and ARB had put back into stock 8O without checking, he also said that if you looked close enough you could see where the driving lights and stuff had been bolted on, I had only looked at it in the dark after a few celebratery drinks last night  so didn't notice ops: but he wanted to make sure everything was 100% so he swapped over the whole lot, actually most of it was missing with the first one

With renewed enthusiasm I had another go at removing the stereo at with the help of 4 kebab skewers out she came 8O

So it looks like a busy weekend ahead

Will post some procedure pics next week

And seqfisho the fun begins here.

Then there will be much time spent thinking about further enhancement.
