Thread: TD5 Metallic knock

Hi Rover2,
Your metallic knock sounds like a bit of a puzzle.
When you say that you can hear it on closing the (driver's ?) door, is that only with the engine running, or does it even occur when it is not?
And just to get something absolutely clear: "Right-hand end" of the dash means the driver's end, correct? (ie: not when looking into the engine bay from the front).

They should have used a Disco in this ad instead of a dunnydoor

I have the exact same Issue.
I will be pulling the dash apart on the weekend to see what it is.
It annoys the bejeezers out of me!
I will let you know what, why, and how.

I had the same issue (I believed) Every time I would drive, all I could hear was a metal knocking noise. It sounded like it was coming from the dash on the passengers side. I pulled the dash off to look but found nothing. I then found when someone would be sitting on that side the noise would stop.... turned out to be 2 loose bolts that hold the seat rails down! Haha

I won't be pulling dash apart this weekend. Other stuff has come up.
I will be attending to this little project later in the week.

Yeah drivers end, it happens when engine running going over anything (not all the time), i have not heard it for about 3 days now!!! I have heard the noise twice when engine off closing the door, I have not had the dash off completely yet but I think I will soon!

Similar stories over time has had it be loose coins under the seat rails on drivers side...
